Katharina joined the group in October '15. Her research focuses on the development of a drug delivery system of therapeutic proteins used for efficient bone repair. The aim is to engineer a bioconjugate containing a therapeutic protein which is attached to a surface molecule via an H2O2-sensitive linker. The protein is cleaved in inflammatory tissue and triggers macrophage polarisation to the M2 state to support bone regeneration.
